About

Hi there, My name is Ruth and I am the owner and lead trainer at Fen Acre Dogs.

My love for dogs started at a young age but it was not until I got my own dog many years ago, that I started to get into the world of dog training.

Rolo, my wonderful chocolate lab came into my life and my world changed. He as a typical lovable lab who was full of fun. But once the cute puppy stage finished, he grew big and strong. All of a sudden, walking him was difficult, the play biting became excessive and I knew I needed help!

We joined a local puppy training club and the rest is history. I was hooked on working with my dog.

Over the years I have owned many dogs, at one point I had 6! All come with their own needs and working with them has been an amazing learning journey and so rewarding.

I have also taken part in different dog sports over the years. Agility and Hoopers but Flyball was my sport. My dogs and I have competed within many different flyball teams and alongside my best friend, even started our own team at one point. We competed at the British championships for many years and at the European championships.

About 3 years ago I succeeded in gaining my Level 3 Instructors qualification with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers and started Fen Acre Dogs to deliver basic training to dog owners. I am lucky enough to have my own outside paddock where I run classes and 121 sessions most of the year. I also run fun pet dog owner Agility and Hooper sessions as well.

Online training is now the new offer as i want to be able to help as many dog owners as I can and I appreciate that not everyone is local to me, can get to my paddock and many people have busy lives and need to fit their dog training in around this. Online training is ideal. From informative handouts to demonstration videos you can learn the basics to start working with your dog. I also offer online 121 consultations with dog owners to support the training journey and help to support individual progress.

Whether you undertake training face to face or online, working with your dog is extremely rewarding for you and for them. It helps build that bond and it helps you and your dog live together and communicate better. It is never too late to start working with your dog, So make a start now and you will be amazed as what it can do!
